Breakfast & coffee

The khachapuri is not from a supplier

It is made here, in the morning, and it comes out whole. Everything below is the card, exactly as it is printed, at the prices that are on it.

A whole imeruli khachapuri, blistered and golden, on the table beside peaches, olives and olive oil

Simple, homemade tastes served with love — which is the line printed at the top of our own card, and it is not a slogan. There are eleven things on it. Nothing costs more than ten lari.

The khachapuri and the lobiani are baked here, in the morning, and they come out whole. The jam is ours. The chiji-biji is eggs scrambled with tomato, which is what half of Georgia eats for breakfast and almost no hotel outside the country puts on a menu.

If you want the field guide to what any of it is — a Georgian breakfast, explained , and what to eat once you leave the house.

Vegan? Just say the word — we will take care of you. Also the house's own words, and the reason there are barely any dietary marks below — it is easier to ask us than to read a legend.

A few things people ask

What time is breakfast?
Eight to eleven. If you have a car to catch earlier than that, tell us and we will leave something out.
Can we eat on our own terrace?
Yes. Ask the night before and we will bring it up.
Is the coffee house only for guests?
No. Anyone can come in.
Can you do dinner?
Not as a restaurant. But if you would rather not go out, ask in the morning and we will usually work something out — and the cooking class ends with a full table anyway.

About breakfast

Is breakfast really included?
Yes, with every room, and it is not a buffet someone else delivered. Breakfast runs from 8:00 to 11:00 and the khachapuri and the lobiani are baked that morning in our own kitchen. Georgian bread with butter and our own jam, chiji-biji — eggs scrambled with tomato — and tea or coffee for as long as you sit there.
Can you do vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free?
Yes for vegan and vegetarian — it is printed on our own menu card: say the word and we will take care of you. Georgian food is one of the easiest cuisines in the world to eat well in without meat, and most of what we cook is already vegetarian. Gluten-free is harder, because nearly everything on the card is bread; tell us before you arrive rather than on the morning and we will work something out.
Is the coffee house open to people who are not staying?
Yes. The kitchen and the coffee are open through the day to anyone who wanders in off Rustaveli, not only to the four rooms. Tea and coffee are 3 lari, khachapuri and lobiani 10, and nothing on the card is dearer than that.
